One of Dublin's secret gems, this pond was once a reservoir serving the north city. It was supplied through the Royal Canal from a lake in County Westmeath. The branch of the Canal, from Cross Guns Bridge, parallel to the Phibsborough Road, down to the pond, was filled in (to become a linear park) when the canals lost their place in the transport industry to the rails.
